Do I have to be sure I want treatment before accessing the service? [11]

Definitely not. You may just be curious about what treatment options are available and have no real intention to seek treatment.

Does the TSS provide support for treatment issues only? [13]

No. We understand that often in order to think about accessing treatment there are other factors such as accommodation and finances that will need to be stabilized. Treatment is a holistic word and can involve a whole gammot of things.

Back to Top [14]

If I access the service once will there always be follow up? [15]

Only if the client wants follow up. We are more than happy to have a chat with you about treatment issues and then leave it at that. There is no pressure to follow up or become involved in case management.

Can I get help accessing interstate services? [17]

Yes. We can help people find and access services both in the ACT and interstate. A lot of people find it helpful to move away from their familiar place to go through treatment. We have built up a very comprehensive lexicon of A&OD services available throughout Australia, so we are a good point for referral.

Can I use the TSS to get help with advocacy? [19]

Definitely. The TSS is more than happy to advocate for people who feel they have been unfairly treated by other service providers.

Back to Top [20]

Can the TSS help me lodge complaints against inappropriate/unfair service provision from other A&OD services? [21]

Definitely. This is a crucial component of the TSS’s service provision. Other services may be more inclined to respect the validity of a complaint if a client is aligned to a services like TSS.

Back to Top [22]

Does the TSS only follow a medical model of treatment? [23]

No. Accessing non-medical options such as acupuncture, herbal support, massage and bowen therapy are just as important and valid as accessing medical options.

Back to Top [24]

Does the TSS do outreach? [25]

Yes. We can meet you at any of Directions service points or any other certified service provider.

Back to Top [26]

Can the TSS fast-track a clients waiting time? [27]

No. Treatment Support does not mean that we can fast track clients through the system. We can however, explore the potential to receive special treatment depending on the individuals circumstances.

Back to Top [28]

Do I need to make an appointment? [29]

Ideally it is good to call and make an appointment. However, if you want to access the TSS right away feel free to call or drop in to see if we are available.
