What is a NSP? [11]

NSP’s are a public health measure to reduce the spread of blood bourne viral & bacterial infections. All information that is given at an NSP is strictly confidential.

There are Primary outlets, Secondary outlets, Vending machines & Pharmacies throughout the ACT. We have two primary outlets situated at the Phillip [14] & City Health Centres [15].

NSP’s provide people in the community with sterile injecting equipment & education.

People who inject drugs & people who need to dispose of injecting equipment.

No you can just drop in.

Is a NSP the same as an injecting room? [26]

No an NSP is only there for the provision of equipment, it is illegal to possess, sell or buy any drugs on the premises.

All of the equipment from the NSP’s in the ACT are free of charge as they are fully funded by ACT Health.

Directions ACT is a non Government Organization that is funded by both the Local & Federal Government.

Mon to Fri 9am to 5pm, we do close for half an hour for a lunch break.

Is there an age limit? [34]

No there is not, however if a young person accesses the Primary NSP’s we encourage them to discuss their situation with a Counsellor.
