The aim of the Community Education Program is to assist people to overcome barriers that may prevent them from seeking support, information and treatment. The purpose is to raise people’s awareness of choices and what is available in the community in order for them to choose a lifestyle that is supportive of their own value systems.
The Community Education Program provides information, resources & support to minimise harms associated with alcohol & drug use. DIRECTIONS ACT provides education and resources to individual, organisations and the wider community and builds capacity by supporting and educating staff within community and government sectors.
DIRECTIONS ACT delivers flexible and responsive community education programs that address the needs of the target audience with a strong emphasis on all aspects of harm minimisation including blood borne viruses and sexually transmissible infections.
A wide range of resources are provided to individuals and community groups on alcohol and other drug issues and related topics.
Party Safe
Party Safe is a program with resources that support and enable young people to make good choices to keep safe in a party environment. The program can be delivered by the Community Education Team within schools, colleges and community groups.
Teachers can also be trained, through a 6 hour training module, to deliver this training to their students.
