The Corrections Health, Support and Education Program provides both information and support to people who are on bail, remand, on parole or are pre or post release prisoners within the Alexander McConchie Centre (AMC) and their families.

Information both offered on a one to one basis, group training and a wide range of resources on drug and alcohol awareness including brochures and contact information for services which are available within the Canberra Region are offered to these clients and their families.

Support is offered to assist clients and their families to access programs that address their substance use to achieve recovery, prevent relapse and avoid incarceration. This support includes case management, counselling, group contacts such as SMART Recovery, AA and NA, the Althea Wellness Centre and Arcadia House Detoxification and Withdrawal Services.

Family Support is offered for the families of the client, in addition to COMPASS which is a support group for families of people affected by alcohol and other drug use.

DIRECTIONS ACT has recently commenced a new program, Inside Out, which will increase its capacity to support people within AMC and their families.
