DIRECTIONS ACT regards access to health and related services as a fundamental human right.
For people who use alcohol and/or other drugs, access includes being able to obtain knowledge of health options relevant to their needs. It includes the ability to choose between and utilise services unhindered by discrimination, stereotyping and prejudice. DIRECTIONS ACT also assists in improving access to health services by finding ways to reach out to those in our community, and their families, whose lives are affected by alcohol and/or other drugs.
DIRECTIONS ACT programs are delivered in accordance with harm minimisation principles. DIRECTIONS ACT offer a range of health interventions designed to reduce or limit harms and improve personal and public health. A particular focus of these interventions is to prevent the spread of blood borne viruses and diseases. DIRECTIONS ACT takes a holistic approach to the individual and the programs are client focussed and evidence based.
DIRECTIONS ACT strives to reduce the harms associated with alcohol and/or other drugs by the provision of information and education, clean injecting equipment, practical health interventions, counselling, referral, support and detoxification services.
DIRECTIONS ACT is incorporated under Assisting Drug Dependents Inc (ADD Inc) and trades under it’s business name of DIRECTIONS ACT Alcohol and Drug Services.
